San Silvestro
"Sensuality belongs to each of us.
It is the poetry of everyday life."

The grandson of the renowned Cuban muralist Eraso Valor Rodriguez, Ernesto Rodriguez left Cuba with his family when he was a young child. Classically trained as a school psychologist, Mr. Rodriguez changed his direction after meeting Jim Doran, a National Geographic underwater photographer. In this mentoring relationship, Mr. Doran rekindled Ernesto's love of art and encouraged him to pursue photography as a career.

VeneziaMr. Rodriguez employs a unique photographic style and technique. Working with old FX-70 Polaroids, he heats the emulsion on a hot plate then manipulates it with etching tools to give the images the right quality of atmosphere and intensity of feeling. Then, the images are scanned and digitally enhanced. This process heightens the mood and dreamlike quality of his work. He calls this process legerete. For Mr. Rodriguez, it is exciting to combine traditional media and 21st century technology.

Ernesto Rodriguez is an emerging artist and is included in Atlantic Richfield, Chevron USA, The Port of Long Beach, and the American Embassy in Kuwait.

Mr. Rodriguez lives in Southern California and enjoys spending time with his family and traveling the world capturing images of places where people wish they could be, and transforming them into scenes that welcome the viewer.
